Construction and seakeeping

Measuring 11.98 m overall with a 3.99 m beam, 2.10 m draft and a 7,500 kg displacement, the 409 provides a wide, stable platform. The hull is polyester and the deck GRP - fibreglass. The rig features an in-mast furling battened mainsail, a brand-new genoa (2026), a storm jib, a spinnaker/gennaker, a code 0 and a bowsprit, with lazy jacks and lazy bag on the boom, halyards led aft to the cockpit, winches including one electric, backstay and adjustable mainsail traveller.

Engine and accommodation

Power comes from a 2012 YANMAR 3JH5CE 4-cylinder diesel on sail drive, showing 3,340 hours. She cruises at 7 knots for a 2 l/h consumption and reaches 11 knots, with 200 litres of fuel and 330 litres of fresh water. Below, 3 cabins and 8 berths for 8 people, a convertible saloon, a full galley with cooktop, oven (2023), microwave and electric refrigerator, hot water and both 12V and 220V circuits.
